Our five AM departure time for our flight to Rhode Island was easily managed. Mario arrived on time, we had efficient help at the airport and were soon seated in First Class and dozing. Stephanie accompanied us on the trip and was seated next to us. She continued to be engrossed in her needlepoint project throughout the trip.
Rube met us
in Providence and welcomed us with a beautifully cleaned boat. The interior and exterior were lovely, and we
were delighted to once again be on board The Bottom Line. The weather was cool and damp. Stephanie
had a list and made a trip to the grocery store to replenish supplies, We were
reluctant to leave the boat due to the cold and rain. All was warm inside.
Stephanie
remained until Wednesday and was a tremendous help and great company. She was intent on finishing her needlepoint
project. She has made a beautiful
ornament for friends and has several more to begin. We made a trip to Needlepoint By the Bay, a
charming shop with great help, and Stephanie purchased a lovely Christmas
pillow project. She has all her spare
time allocated for needlepoint!
Memorial Day Holiday was very quiet due to the weather until Monday when sunny skies finally brought out the boats. It was delightful to watch the constant parade through the harbor. We made a late trip to Home Depot to find needed parts for the installation of our new undercounter ice maker. Fortunately, we had exceptional help, and our problem was eventually solved. We were delighted to receive a visit from John and Maria who will be joining us this summer in the marina on their beautiful boat.
Wickford had
a Memorial Day parade with a band, floats, tractors and police cars with lots
of flags and bunting. Hundreds of people
lined the streets. It was a Norman
Rockwell scene of Americana. In
addition, the magnificent blooms of pink and scarlet rhododendrons created a
lovely botanical scene.
