We were delighted to host Betsie, John and their daughter and her fiancé for dinner on the aft deck.  John cooked steaks (we had brought from Texas), Betsie made salad and bread and I baked potatoes and made dessert.  Joy and Josh are to be married in October and we we eager to celebrate in a small way this happy event.

Jill, our dear boating friend from days in Maine, joined us for lunch at Tavern by the Sea.  Always thoughtful, Jill brought exotic flowers, a lovely anniversary card, and dessert.  We loved visiting with her and reluctantly said farewell with pleas that she would come to Fort Worth.

Plans are made for leaving the boat on September 3.  A last visit to Green Ink to peruse the new Fall collection is a must.  Packing clothes and personal items to take home will require effort.  Rube will come on Tuesday to give us much needed help with cleaning the boat and loading the car.  We plan to drive to Galveston for a medical procedure before driving onward to Fort Worth.

Using AI I planned a six-day trip to Galveston without driving near New York City, Philadelphia and Houston.  We will travel a scenic route to Harrisburg, PA, Lexington, VA, Knoxville, TN, Jackson, MS, and Lafayette, LA before taking the Bolivar ferry into Galveston.  We have chosen pet-friendly hotels to accommodate Pretzel.

Once again, we had a great summer in Rhode Island on The Bottom Line.  We have been fortunate to spend 16 years enjoying this beautiful boat and the wonderful experiences it has made possible.
