August 25                                      Sandwich, Massachusetts

The following morning, I took an early water taxi to Logan Airport for my flight to Fort Worth.  Dave and David would continue without me to New York where I would join them.  The early morning fog was lifting and the harbor was clearly visible.

Departing within minutes after I left the boat, Dave was able to see the sights of the harbor, obscured by fog on our arrival in Boston.  I had plotted the route to Sandwich through some of the island channels to shorten the journey and to make it more interesting for Dave, who enjoys a challenge.  The weather was favorable with light winds and smooth seas.  The five hour voyage to Sandwich was uneventful.

Sandwich Marina is situated near the entrance of the Cape Cod Canal and is a welcome haven in stormy weather to escape the rough seas.  It is a pleasant place to dock but is not near any stores or good restaurants.  On an earlier visit, we found the popular seafood place only a block away to be a dump with mediocre food and poor service.   Unfortunately, David reported it had not changed.
